Tautuku Camp 2016


Camp day 1
We ran out of the cars straight into the building. I had a quick glance at the bedrooms then ran straight into the lounge,then back the the bedrooms. Once everyone had arrived we had a bite to eat. After that we had to set up our beds. I was on the bottom bunk and Te Aroha was above me. Finally Mrs Weild told us what we were doing. We were tie dying pillow cases. I really liked mine. We also went on the flying fox it was awesome. Before dinner we took a walk down the beach and the boys went for a swim. Then we came back to camp and had a quick shower before dinner. Following dinner we had dessert and then Master Chef. Then it was off to bed for a goods night sleep.


Day 2 highlights
My highlight of the second day was doing the team challenges. I was in a team with Isla,Imogen and Arnika. The scavenger hunt was really fun. We got everything on the list including all the bonus points. Overall we came 2nd in the team challenges. We done really well. For lunch we had make your own pizza. I went halves with Charlotte but I was still hungry so I had half of Mrs Weild’s. After lunch we went down to Papatowai and went kayaking in the river. Lots of kids did not paddle hard enough and got pulled away by . Lanie,Lochie,Ryan,Jennie and I were the only ones that made it do the other side. We found a cave on the other side. I had to give my kayaka to someone else so Lanie,Alyssa and I had a mud fight with Grant it was hilarious. That night my team had Master Chef we cam third.




Day 3 highlights


My highlights of day 3… we had Adventure Masters,first we done team building challenges we came first in all of them. Then we went inside to have morning tea. After morning tea we did my favourite activity Escape and Evasion. We all had to wear saftey goggles. All the adults had BB guns with plastic bullets in them. All of us kids had to go hide in the bush. If we got shot you put your hands on your head and walked to jail. Someone who hadn’t been shot could sneak round jail and touch the cone that was in the middle of the jail and call jail break that means everyone could escape. I let half of the class out in the last round.Then we done the cofidence coarse. It was really fun some bits were easy but others wern’t. After confidence coarse we did abseiling. I was fourth in the line. The abseiling wall was very easy for me but not for others. We were at the wall for nearly 2 hours we left at 6:15pm. We were all very tirerd when we got back to camp. That night we had camp concert. We done a dance off nerds vs cool kids.


Day 4 highlights


After brekky we had to pack everything away and clean up. That took a we while. After everything was packed and loaded into the vechiles we headed for Owaka Museum for a look around and a quiz,then we went to the park for lunch. Then we headed home!

pH scale

For science we have been learning about pH! So we made our own!this is mine!

Whakapapa

Soup

The delightful smell whiffs up my nose.The runny liquid slides down my throat. The look of red lumpy sauce makes my mouth water. It drips off the end of my spoon as I scoop it up. The feel of warmth makes me shiver. It is a great meal on a freezing cold day!

Weaving-cup

This is one of my weaving projects that I have been working on. 

First of all we had to put marks on the cup then cut up the cup. Then we had to choose a piece of wool. We weaved over one piece then under the next. You had to make sure you pushed the wool down other wise you had big gaps. I am very happy how mine turned out it is all together with no gaps!!

Acrostic Poem-Ice Cream Sundae

Ice cream scoops get piled up in the bowl.

Cream gets drizzled out of the cup.

Eager to start eating,makes me excited.

Cold chocolate sauce runs down my mouth.

Raspberries make the sundae perfect.

Everyspoonful makes me want more.

As it comes out from the kitchen my eyes stick to it.

Makes me want to have five more.

Strawberry sauce runs down the ice cream.

Unfair that is all gone in three minutes.

Never wan't it to end.

Dark chocolate sauce is my favourite of all.

All kinds of flavours.

Eating it is heaven.

Descriptive Writing-Grilled Cheese

Grilled Cheese

The warm golden cheese makes my mouth water.The sizzling sound makes my tummy rumble. Taking it out of the toaster it looks divine. The oily bubbles pop as it cools down. The oozy cheese glides down my throat. The heavenly warm,melted grilled cheese disappears off the toast. Biting into the crunchy piece of toast it taste delicious. And the savoury taste makes it divine!

Optical illusion

In class for art we have been studying all about the colours. Then we took a look at optical illusion. So we done some colouring. We done two with cold colours and then one with cold colours!

New pool

The new community pool has opened! We have been swimming in it every day. Every one has loved it !

Chrome books

This year we got 10 chrome books for our class room! They are pretty cool!

Shield

In art we made some shields. This is my shield. In each box we had to draw something that you should do at school this is mine!

In room 7 we are making a puzzle piece wall this is it so far. We are still missing some pieces!

To make these we got a photo of us side ways. Then we printed them off and cut them out. After that we turned to to the blank side and started to draw. Then we coloured them in. This is what it turned out to!
