Passion Projects

For the the last 4 weeks we have been doing passion projects!
We got given some choices that we got to choose from like photography, forensic science, biking, dance,gym,aerobics, Maori and music. I did photography with Mrs O.
I learnt that you can take photos from different angles and try not to have your subject right in the middle.

Mexican god eyes

Last Friday for art we made some Mexican god eyes. We did part of this  art for our maths  for rotational symmetry. I made two god eyes one out of ice block sticks  and  the  other one was made out of sticks!

Yesterday in maths on the mat I made a shape that is rotational. You can rotate this shape 6 times. I reckon it looks really cool!

Cross Country

Finally  LAS got to hold our cross country because  last term we tried twice but the weather wasn't pretty. Here is my story and some photos.




Heart pounding. Tummy turning. Feet in position. Then off I went, dodging through the trees, trying to pass Anna. Then I was passed Anna. Dying to jump in the frog pond, I trotted passed, Mrs O cheering me on. Climbing up the hill, neck and neck with Lanie. Then I tripped. Making my way to the end in 2nd place. Dance Night

Every second year we have a Dance night.

This year Room 4 done a dance based on "team work".

We done our dance to "happy" and "everything is awesome" off the lego movie.

On Tuesday students from LAS went down to clutha for gym fest.
I was in the aerobics group!
The aerobics group got bronze.

Speech

This is my last year speech enjoy!

Flute, swimming, guitar, running, piano, biking. Music is dancing, singing, playing the guitar and lots more but sport is physical . Sport is exercising. Sport is fun. Sport is  something to do with your friends. What do you think is best? Well I think sport, and I am here to tell you why sport is best.

Firstly you get to travel the world doing sport but if you do music you don’t get to travel as far. It would be fun to travel the world and meet lots of people. Famous athletes get to go to big world events and they represent New Zealand at lots of events like the olympic games,rugby world cup, netball champs, tennis series not to forget the commonwealth games . You can explore the world and meet people that you can travel the world with them like if you went to London olympics you can go somewhere close to London like France.

Secondly you can do sport  in a team or by yourself . If you go to the olympics you can  do it individually but you can do it in a team like rowing,netball, rugby,basketball,water polo,volleyball and cricket are all in a team.When you play in a band you have to play a different instrument to other people so it will sound better . But if you play in a team at sport you can all work together plus you don't have an instrument in your mouth so you can talk.

Thirdly you can be famous doing sport because you go to lots of places in the world and meet lots of people. Sports people get to go to the Olympics and meet lots of other sportspeople from the other side of the world.You can be on tv ads like Dan Carter who modelled in his undies on TV.   He got paid and became famous. Can you imagine a musician modelling in their undies?  Sports people also get to go to schools and meet school kids. They talk to them and they can play some games with the kids.  If it was a singer they won’t know you and you may not know them.

You can be fit ! You should  be fit for your whole live because you will feel good and it is good for your health. If you take risks and try new sports you will get more confident and feel braver to try lots of new things, not just sports.  When you're on the stage all you do is sing and walk around, how do you get fit by doing that? You can become fit by running, swimming, biking, rowing and walking. Being fit can help you  to keep your weight down. But if you just went on stage you don’t move enough on stage and could get fat.

This is why sport is better than music because you can travel the world,you can do it in a team or by your self,you can be famous doing sport,you can be fit doing sport. This is why you should get music out of your mind and sport in.Undoubtedly sport is better than music.

My goals for term 3

In Room 4 we get goals to work on these are my goals 

To get further and faster every day in cross country 

To learn my times tables of by heart

To represent LAS in south Otago cross country 

To contribute to discussions and share my ideas

To use facial expression appropriately for my speech

Goop

Also when we made ice cream we had to make goop as well it s really easy. What we found out was that goop is a solid plus a liquid. When you hold the goop really hard it turns into a solid but when you just let it sit in your hands it turns into a liquid. Here is our goop!

In Room 4 we have been learning about materiel matter.
We watch a Suzy World dvd and it showed us how to make ice cream her is my team making ice cream.

Morning Talk

Speeches are coming up at Lawrence school so our teachers have decided that we will do morning talk. We got given a grid and we have to do something off it every week and I decided to do a poem here it is.

What to do at a powhiri

When we went on camp we went to the marae. When we had come back and learnt more about the marae we had to make something to show and  Charlotte and I chose to do a slide show so here it is.

My holidays

In the holidays I decided to collect stuff and show the class what I did in the holidays.
Here is all of it! 

Climbing Wall

“Clifton I am going on it after you”I blurted out. “Ok Josie”Clifton replied. The instructor clipped me up and offI went. When I was half way up all I could see was all the cars parked outside,trying to take my mind how high I was. When I tried to look out the glass window to think I am still climbing because it fells like I am day dreaming.. While I was living the dream up as high I have ever been in my live,all I saw was little creatures-that was Room 4 of course. The rope and harness that the instructor was holding pulled me up. When I looked over the room all I could see was all the other walls not been used. This this was the only wall being used. I felt like I was famous. All there was to see was Ipads, phones and cameras going snap, snap, snap . When will it end? When it was too high I didn’t look,down everyone was so tiny so all there was to look at was the foot and hand grips. About 10 minutes later I had a dry throat. I need WATER I thought top myself! When I was just about at the top all I was able to hear was cheering ,kids playing in the squash courts and laughing and talking bouncing around the stadium. In my head there were all sorts of thoughts “Should I give up?” one voice says in my head. Another thought was “Will I make it to the top?” says the second voice. Then all that happend was… I was poofed. I drifted to the ground. After all the excitement I realise it was really fun on the climbing wall! I hope Mum and Dad give me a challenge somewhere else.
